Mandela’s grandson scores first goal.


Munich, 13 July 2008 – At the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on 12 July, Goal4Africa celebrated the global kick off of its fundraising system and awareness campaign. In the presence of top football players such as Seedorf, Ballack, Gattuso and Van Persie, Sizwe Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela, scored the first goal. This was the first of many goals to be scored to help raise funds for education and social development in Africa in the build up towards the FIFA World Cup 2010™. The event was broadcasted in over 65 countries worldwide.

During a live event in the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, the story of Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary life and his dream are told, the necessity for education in Africa is demonstrated, and the Goal4Africa program and objectives are explained. The event is broadcasted in many countries worldwide and should energize viewers to get involved in Nelson Mandela’s dream.

Ali Campbell, legendary voice of UB40, supports Goal4Africa


Special Goal4Africa Anthem composed for Global Kick Off Event of fundraiser London, 27 June 2008 – Today, Ali Campbell announces that he will record a special anthem with gospel choir Ladysmith Black Mambazo for the Global Kick Off Event of Goal4Africa on 12 July. Campbell is joined by Clarence Seedorf, first and global ambassador of Goal4Africa and Mr. Achmat Dangor of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Campbell and Dangor will both be present at the Global Kick Off Event. Goal4Africa is a fundraiser and global awareness campaign for education and social development for Africa. The Goal4Africa anthem will be a unique duet with Campbell of UB40 and Joseph Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The anthem is based on the famous song “Many Rivers to Cross” and will be performed for the first time during the Global Kick Off event in the Allianz Arena on 12 July.
